You may actually find several helpful strategies and tips by reading magazines and books that are specifically about chess. Whenever you are reading, you should try to internalize what you have learnt, and then you should play a game using the information that you have learnt.

After doing this, you are going to go back and read a little more information until you have everything that you have read so far, down pat. During the time that you are reading, you may also want to take a couple of notes on all of the information that you read also. Keep a notebook for all the new moves and strategies that you have read about so that you are able to continuously study them.

Writing these notes down will help you to imprint these notes into your mind a little deeper. Later on, whenever you are playing you may also want to look at all of your notes for a little help until you are able to remember all of the moves on your own. One of the other great ways that you may work at improving your chess game is to play matches with advanced players. Normally it is best if you play with some sort of handicap in order to make the chess game a little more interesting for both of the players.

During the time that you are playing with an advanced player, you may learn from all of the strategies that they use and you may learn how you can combat their strategies also. You will find that the more that you play with an advanced player, the more skill you are going to develop also.

Last but not least, one of the other ways that you may practice your chess games is by using computer software.
